Question

computer keeps changing the date in sleep mode

Sep 10, 2017 12:31AM PDT

I have a one year old Asus computer running on Windows 10 that keeps changing the date every time it goes to sleep mode. The problem is as old as the computer. Could someone tell me what is causing this problem? Thank you

Clarification Request
Re: changing the date

A few questions to make your problem more clear:
1. If the date/time is correctly set in WIndows before sleep and you set it to sleep and wake it up again, what's the new date?
2. Is the date correct after shutdown/startup and hibernate/wake? Or is is wrong then also?
3. Probably you tell us about the time shown in Windows. What's the time in the BIOS?

Thank you for your reply

1. The new date when it wakes up from sleep is most of the times the next day but not always.
2. My computer cannot hibernate. There is only the sleep mode or the shut down mode. When I shut it down, the date does not change. It changes only when it goes into sleep mode.
3. I have just checked the date and time in the BIOS. There are correct.

Best regards,

windows time service
Sep 13, 2017 3:09AM PDT

The date and time I see when I go to Control panel>date and time is correct. Internet time is deactivated.

I noticed however that the region was set to US and I am currently in Asia. I changed the region and will see what happens.

Thank you

Is the windows time service running?
I don't know how to find services in w10 but on this OS it shows in control panel>admin.

You also might want to enable that internet time just to keep your clock in sync.

Motherboard
Apr 23, 2018 6:28AM PDT

I have the same issue. I came across another forum where people mentionned they had the same type of motherboard as me (ASrock) and the date and time has been changing whenever it wakes up from sleep mode. I've tested the automatic time and region settings, I've tried setting it manually, and just recently I've tried disabling the service and re-syncing it through command prompt. If you think It might be the motherboard that needs replacing (it's about 2 years old) let me know...
