No. The computer worked until two nights ago. Got home from work to this black screen issue. What I meant was that I spent all day, going out to bestbuy and reformatting my computer with a new install of windows 8 and nothing changed. It put me right back at square one

So you installed Windows 8 while only seeing a black screen during the install? That's impressive. I couldm't do that.

What is an "Nvidia boot sequence"?

Indeed, nobody can solve your problem, because you don't tell enough about it, and what you tell is confusing and unclear.

You came home from work and saw a black screen. So do I. But when I turn the PC on it wakes from hibernate and shows the Windows logo, and a few seconds later I can logon. But maybe your PC is turned on while you're at work downloading movies from some p2p-site and you didn't expect to see a black screen?

One of the options is that you need a new videocard, because the old one broke down. I'm sure they can do that at Bestbuy. Why do you think they can't?

Re: new OS

That's a very strange advice. "You need to reinstall the current OS" would have been fine (although rather drastic), but a "new OS" is not necessary. Then you write "Got a new os and reinstalled windows 8". That's a contradiction: either you reinstalled the old OS, or you installed bought and installed another OS.

So can you tell more about what you did and what happened?
