Question

Computer is freezing

Apr 6, 2018 2:29PM PDT

Hi all,

I have had this issue now for quite a while. Randomly, my computer will just freeze and I have to push the power button to restart the whole computer. I keep checking the event viewer but can only see the Event 7000: The RtNdPt60 service failed to start due to the following error:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.

I downgraded my AMD graphic drivers to 17.12.1, believing that was the issue but it still freezes. I use Speccy to monitor my temperatures of all the components and they don't seem to be exceeding normal temperatures. I checked the memory on boot and that came back with no errors. I have checked my three disk drivers for errors but could not see any.

The freezes seem to happen at random times. They don't happen while gaming but seem to happen while on the desktop such as on the web, Netflix etc. I am just hoping it isn't anything that is severely damaged or needs replacing.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks you lot!

Since you can research this and find it's some LAN driver why not check for an update by the motherboard maker first?

I want to hear from you your work so far. If you are expecting a fix then go ahead and just say so since most of these failures have you trying this or that. At some point it begins to look like bad hardware or old boards. Be ready for that.

Have you monitored your CPU usage when going online, or tried using another web browser?

CPU looks fine., Sometimes, I can just be idle on the desktop or playing a game. I have done a RAM check and all looks fine and reinstalled windows. I can only see that error message being the issue as everytime it crashes, event viewer says:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Followed by;
The RtNdPt60 service failed to start due to the following error:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious
