Computer hangs and blue screens. Please help.

Oct 19, 2012 3:54AM PDT

Hey there everyone.

I have an asus laptop that is about a year old. Has been VERY reliable and fast until recently. About 3 weeks ago, I started having the following issues.

1. After my computer starts up, after about 15 minutes, my computer will freeze/hang. All programs will stop responding at once, though my mouse still works. Sometimes if I wait 20-30 minutes it will resolve itself, other times no such luck.

2. About twice a week, my computer will freeze then give me a blue screen that says something about a Kernel data inpage error. I have to restart, but the computer is fine after that.

I am currently running windows 7. I have run scan after scan with malwarebytes and Microsoft security essentials but both have turned up nothing. I also have midterms coming up soon, and studying from my various online textbooks and notes are just becoming too fustrating.

Please help.

Thanks for your time

No make, model or story about canned air.

This could be a pest, a bad combo or something more serious but the make, model, if you know about canned air use and more was not told.

Generally that specific error ...

will show the problem driver file name near the bottom of the screen.

Sometimes updating that driver will solve the problem and at other times the driver faults because of a memory (RAM) problem. Download and run MEMTEST http://www.memtest.org/ to check your RAM

I fully agree with Bob as he hinted about cleaning the PC because overheating is often the cause of damage to RAM modules.

I'm using a laptop cooling pad, but it doesnt seem to help.
I will try the memtest and/or canned air. Thanks for the help.
