Computer Freezew

Feb 12, 2011 8:02AM PST

Every time I try to cut and paste, my computer freezes up. The only way I can close out is to reboot, which I know is bad for my computer. I never realized how often I copy things until this happened. I must have rebooted a hundred times by now. It is impossible for me to pick up the computer and take it to a repairman and expensive for them to come to me. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Computer Freeze.2

I have a relatively new computer (purchased 3 months ago) made to my specifications as I do a lot of photography and graphics. Not sure what all you need, but here is info:

Windows 7 Professional - Processor Intel(r) core (TM) i7 CPU
860 @ 2.80 GHz Ram 4.0 64 bit op system

I did a system restore back 2-3 weeks thinking the problem might be caused from a software installation. It did not help.

Sorry for the typo.

I lost a word and that may be confusing. I meant "such as ENHANCED" so it's up to you to see if such is installed.

Good to read it's new. Make it their problem now. A new machine like that is a warranty issue.

When you say "EVERY TIME I try to cut and paste" ...

Do you mean that literally or do you mean that it happens in certain applications?

I ask because there are some applications where such behavior has been noted with 64 bit Windows 7 which you indicated you have. Open Office 3.1.1 for instance works fine in XP and Vista but several 64 bit Windows 7 users have noted a cut and paste problem in both Writer and Calc and the cure for them is to uninstall an revert to an earlier version such as 2.4.3

Have you looked at the application and system logs in yout Event Viewer to see if any problems are showing up?
