Resolved Question

Computer freezes

Mar 22, 2016 6:27AM PDT

I upgraded my VAIO SONY laptop from Vista to Windows 7. I don't know if it was genuine because when i first had my computer in vista it froze so we took it to a computer technician that changed it from Vista to 7. So the computer was fine we could work on it but still it said that "this copy of windows is not genuine". Then the laptop froze again . We took it again to a technician again , this time he said that the computer has a problem with the border that it can't be fixed. Now i can only open the computer on Safe Mode because when i open it in normal mode it says Activate Now or later(for windows 7) i click later then my computer freezes . Also when i got the computer from the technician form the second time and when i opened it there were some other programs installed like Photoshop , CyberLink YouCam etc. So can it be fixed?

report the piracy

Per microsoft license, the technician was supposted to give you a disk and a coa when they installed win7 over vista. If this tech refuses to make it right, you can report them to your local bbb or other local organizations, including any local news outlet that has a consumer reporter. You can also report it to microsoft.

Answer
It's back to that tech to cure what they broke.

As to legit, if you didn't get charged about 100+ bucks for a Windows 7 license and DVD, it's bogus and you want to use your Sony Recovery media to start over.

Sadly it looks like the factory restore is the best exit.

Since the tech is not doing the work or offering other ideas I think the factory recovery is the best plan.

If that disc is the factory restore disc then get out your manual and see how to access it.

Let me broach this.

There are a bunch of technicians that claim it's OK to use "The BLUE Windows OS dvds" because, and they give many reasons. These are sadly just another cracked, pirated version of Windows and has resulted in way too many problems.

What a pain.
