Question

Computer Freezes with with loud buzzing

Nov 12, 2018 6:53PM PST

Hello,

My windows 10 computer will frequently freeze where the screens go black, a loud buzzing sounds come through the speakers, it doesn't respond to any keystrokes and I have to hold the power button to turn it off. This often occurs when I am trying to do something graphics intense like play a game. I am able to browse the web and do simple things with no issue.
It is likely unrelated but it also stopped recognizing my SSD, so I am booting from my HDD now.

Things I have tried:

I reinstalled windows. Same problem.
Ran checkdsk/f and repaired some errors. Same problem.
Swapped ram with a computer that works. Same problem.

Swapped graphics card with a computer I know works. This one was interesting. I experienced the same problem but only once in two days rather than every 5-10 min. While using this graphics card one game ran at over 100fps when the ingame setting was unlocked, my graphics card only gets into the 70s. The graphics card I borrowed does not require additional power, but mine does.

This is the graphics card I borrowed: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487025

Any tips, advice, or input are all greatly appreciated.
