Computer freezes when installing games

by BigAl75 / June 22, 2005 8:40 AM PDT

I have two different games I am trying to install on my computer. The first cd works fine. Once it gets done with the first cd and asks for the second cd, things get screwy. I inset the second cd, pess the continue button, and within a few seconds, my entire somputer freezes up. I have to manually shut it down.

I thought upgrading my video card would fix this, but it hasn't.

I have an HP Pavillion a400y with 2.50GHz Intel Processor, 760MB of Ram, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 video card, CR ROM DX-CDR 100 and LG CD-RW CED-8080B as my two CD-ROMS.

Can anyone help me with this. Right now, I have two games that cost $100+ together, and am very hesitant to buy any more.

May I ask, what Operating System?

And point out ONE possibility? If it is Win 98 it may prefer that the memory be limited to 512 MB.

..have you closed down all opened programs and disabled your anti-virus ? Also try cleaning out the Temp folder.

I've done all of that. This has been happening since last fall, so I'm kind of at a loss for what to do. that's why I finally came here and made a post. I'm completely at a loss.

I would make a backup of your files and use the restore disk.
