Computer freezes when I plug in Ipod.

Feb 5, 2005 10:41PM PST

I just got my Ipod and everything is installed and Itunes works perfectly and stuff. So then I plug in the Ipod from the USB port and the computer freezes about a minute later. The mouse locks up and the computer just freezes...

If you can help please leave a message! Thanks

You missed the Forum Tip.

Which reads " If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution. "

My bet is your machine has some OS that was loaded by someone and they forgot motherboard drivers, a BIOS update or USB 2.0 suppliements. But since you didn't tell about such, I can only guess PLUS we get to make more postings about the issue.

I'm running on a Dell Desktop 8200. I've got Windows XP and I have the USB 2.0 card installed into my P.c. I also downloaded the latest version of Itunes.

XP doesn't do USB 2.0
Feb 5, 2005 10:57PM PST

USB 2.0 support appeared in SP1. Also, there may be an USB supplement that Dell or the card maker will have to offer. So far it's either the Service Pack for XP or supplements. I'd also move the USB 2.0 card to another slot and try another make/model (you didn't tell what card you have) USB 2.0 card.

Even with gentle nudging about the forum tip, your details are too superficial. Maybe you have to look at USB 2.0 issues yourself at http://www.usbman.com
