computer freezes in bios

i frequently exchange parts from 1 computer to anotrher, but recently i encountered a problem. when the computer starts up it goes through the standard memory test, ands then lists the primary master/slave and seconday master/slave, but after that it freezes. i have an amd k7 1.2 ghz with 256mb of ddr ram. any ideas?

What OS is installed?,can you get into the bios?

I had a board that would do something similar if I changed anything on an IDE channel. I would need to halt the POST, run and accept the HD detection routine. Then it would boot. Another thing to try when this happens is to load the BIOS defaults (write down your custom settings), redetect devices and manually reenter variences from the defaults. I think MBs sometimes wake up not remembering who they are or where they have been.
