Question

Computer freezes and buzz in speakers

Apr 1, 2017 12:00PM PDT

I have a 6700k, GTX 1060 computer but every time I play games it freezes and buzz. Strange thing is that the CPU maxed out at 60 degrees Celsius and the GPU at 52 (manual fan speed). What is the problem here? Is it my Corsair GS 800 PSU that I bought in 2013. Do I need new PSU?

I'm still learning
Apr 1, 2017 12:58PM PDT

to read Speccy's and I just KNOW Bob's gonna find more junk but I see....
Advanced SystemCare Service 10 , IObit Uninstaller Service and IObitSelfCheckTask .

IOBit has created more problems than it solved.

Uninstall
Apr 1, 2017 1:15PM PDT

So I just have to uninstall those things and everything should be good?

Nobody said that

But it is a place to start

There is annother thing
Apr 1, 2017 1:30PM PDT

that is bothering me though .

I see that you have SmartDefrag on start up
Are you defragging that SSD ?

SmartDefrag
Apr 1, 2017 1:42PM PDT

I have never defragment anything on my computer

- Collapse -
How would you know
Apr 1, 2017 2:10PM PDT

since it runs on start up ?
Turn it off ! Open your Task Manager and open the Start Up Tab
Turn off everything that isn't necessary for Windows to run .....

- Collapse -
And I also know
Apr 1, 2017 1:44PM PDT

That defragmenting an SSD is a bad idea since defragging involve lots of write and re-rewrite which can shorten an SSD lifespan

Ram
Apr 1, 2017 1:23PM PDT

Overclocking that ram?
If so you might want to bring it down to stock speed for a test.

Iobit, I don't have any stick time with the product but it seems to be something not held in high regard.
You might want to bin that for test purpose.
These pc speeder-upper tools sometimes cause more trouble than their worth.

Ok ram is at 2133
Apr 1, 2017 1:32PM PDT

Do you guys recommend fresh windows install?

- Collapse -
No , not until we figure out
Apr 1, 2017 1:37PM PDT

if this is a software problem or hardware.

Do as Bob suggested and run Checkdisk

Have you uninstalled all Iobit products

- Collapse -

Did you bin iobit?

Post another speccy.

Before you pull the trigger on a reinstall make sure you've got good backups.

Grounding
Apr 1, 2017 1:12PM PDT

Sounds to me like something is grounding out. Look for a loose screw in the case on or under the motherboard. Also try a second set of speakers, see if the buzzing continues.

While I'm reading the Speccy do this and re-test.

Answer
Speccy comments.

1. Java. Do you really need this? Most folk don't. Uninstall as you work your PC issues.

2. Turn Off Monitor after: (On AC Power): 15 min
Turn Off Hard Disk after: (On AC Power): 20 min

While you work the PC issues, set these to never or to say 2 hours which is well beyond the trouble time.

3. Advanced SystemCare Service 10 and IOBit apps.
For now, remove it. Do not use this to clean, optimize or get drivers.

4. I think I see the Windows 10 Email Login. To head off a future issue, be sure to have a spare local Admin login account. Here's how:
https://www.howtogeek.com/226540/how-to-create-a-new-local-user-account-in-windows-10/

5. CCLeaner and possibly Smartdefrag?
Uninstall till the PC behaves.

6. Failed updates. Nothing really stands out. Mixing Ccleaner, Iobit, ASC and what else can cause odd failures like this. Clean the items above to see if these updates fall into place.

Continuing in a bit.

Continuing.

7. DRAM looks overclocked. Report says 1206.8 MHz. The part is rated for 1066. Return to stock values.

8. BIOS IS CURRENT. I like it when I see that.

9. VOLTAGE. Speccy can get that wrong so try the BIOS to check.
Why? Probably same reason as https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/msis-do-not-use-cpuz-for-voltages-warning.220639/

10. DNS. I'd skip using 192.168.x.x and call out my DNS directly. Usually better response times. For those that test, use NAMEBENCH and try 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.1

11. Congrats on using wired connections on a gaming rig. Avoids all sorts of troubles.

-> Turn this OFF too.

Didn't re-read the new Speccy completely

But there's some USB drive. Always unplug those for the best game experiences. They cause randomness we don't need.
