Question

Computer freezes

Nov 15, 2012 10:39AM PST

Hello,
Acouple days ago my computer started freezing. When it freezes, it only lasts acouple seconds and after it unfreezes it has a single beep. Some days I may have the problem, but other days it acts fine. It really varies by the hour, maybe one hour it won't happen, next hour it happens several times every couple minutes.

My computer is a Gateway, probably 2-3 years old. I checked the temps of the CPU and system, the CPU was 35 Celsius and the System was 55. Any idea of the problem? Thanks for everything

When these "freezes" happen ...

what does the Task Manager show the offending process to be? It will be the one using all the CPU cycles.

I looked

at the task manager when it happened, and nothing really jumps out. Acouple only have 01, 02 or 03, but thats about it. The stuff that has CPU I have no idea what they are explorer.exe, wm.exe, taptip.exe. But they go from zero to maybe 02 then back to zero.

I noticed that when I look at the physical memory in task, it's listed as:

Total: 3037
Cached: 1540
Available: 1610
Free: 44

Do those sound right or low?
