Question

Computer freeze after some time in

Apr 16, 2018 3:27PM PDT

So, I have been having this problem for like 2 days and I don't know what to do more and so I came to a forum and asked for help!
So, I boot my computer, i login in my windows account, and after that my computer freezes, but not instantly, it freezes after 5/10 minuts in or when i open any program, like Battle.net or Steam...
By the way i bought a GT 1030 and a new 1920x1080 monitor about 3 days ago.
I was out of ideas so i tried to use the reset PC option in windows, it did reset, but doesnt let me pass from the language option screen because it instantly freezes there.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!

This sounds like the usual issues. Such as

1. The CPU heatsink fell off.
2. The machine is old and the PSU can't handle the load.

Ok so.

Tell more about your PC (second request.)

Many of the Intel boards used a less than solid approach to mounting and they tend to lift off resulting in pleas like yours.

But if you tell little about your PC I can only give you areas to check. And no, I don't replace the heatsink on such without good reason.

You say you replaced the CPU but left out all the steps. For example I continue to encounter folk that replace the CPU but skip adding heatsink compound or find the fan wasn't plugged in.

All skill levels arrive here. I can't know where your skill level is. Please tell more.

When i replaced CPU i replaced the thermal paste aswell, i did that some time ago didn't had any problems.
When i get home i will check the cooler and maybe replace the graphics card and the monitor with the old ones, it might be a driver problem, but when i get home i will check everything and will give you an answer.

With that it isn't a PSU problem right?

The processor right now is an dual core e8400, 2x 2gb ddr3 1066mhz ram, windows 10. I can't tell you the motherboard because i don't know the name.

But when i get home i will give you an answer.

I am so frustated

Right now my computer seem to not recognize my mouse or my keyboard, what is happening??

- Collapse -
The e8400 didn't tax power supplies much.

With your note about USB issues I am worried your motherboard mounting is faulty and shorting out the back side of the board.

Start without a case and see if that works.

Graphic Drivers
Apr 16, 2018 4:51PM PDT

Am I right to think this could be a GPU driver issue?

How?
Apr 16, 2018 11:19PM PDT

Well, this happened in the day later after i restarted the PC with the newest drivers. If it is a drivers problem how do i solve it?

I don't think it's a driver problem. Looks more like hardware.

Bios

Enter the bios and look for a hardware monitor.

If you have such a thing open that up and sit there and watch it.

It doesn't let me get to bios

I press ESC to go to BIOS and it just ignores, continues to windows setup

Let the monitor run for 15-20 mins and watch the temps.
