computer freeze

Can you please help me diagnosing this problem . My computer freeze and the screen looks like this .
The sound freezes too. And this happen usually in one minute after I log in to windows.
I am sure it is a hardware problem but I cant tell what is the problem.
Any Ideas???

There are a lot of causes for that screen but it's a shame the make and model is not here as if this was a DV6000 or similar model I know of an issue. However the most common causes are heat, failing video card and ram.

It was a failed video card that, after I took off the heat sink, I found some bulging capacitors. I was lucky in that the unit I was asked to look at had on board video as well. Pulling the bad card and switching to the MB VGA jack made the system work I believe the user opted to leave it that way.
