in the supply blowing. Pobably lost a few more over time to leaking. With luck, none of the voltages went too high and the only thing needed is to put in a new supply. Check the wattage of yours and get one 50 or more watt higher rating.
The newer supplies will probably have a couple of connector types that you won't use. Not to worry about them, just tie them iup out of the way for airflow.
I have a four-year-old AMD Duron 800 MHZ machine that I have had no problem with until recently. While cleaning it, I pushed the tower back into its spot on my desk when I heard a pop. A small puff of smoke rose from the back, but there was no apparent consequence at the time. It booted fine and I proceeded to use it ordinarily each day. Now, about a week and a half later, I push the power button and nothing happens. No LEDs come on, nor does any sound emerge. My best guess is that I destroyed the power supply, in which case I realize that i have a problem. If anyone has any other suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
