Computer crashing but not overheating in game.

May 13, 2017 10:31PM PDT

So recently I have been experiencing some crashes while playing games on my computer. The problem is it is not due to overheating, and it happenes only when I play specific games. Lately the most frequent (about every 30 minutes) crash is inside the game "Dota 2". I have been playing this game for long with the best graphics, but after i moved my computer onto my desk and added an rgb usb led strip it started crashing, only with high and ultra settings. It happened in other games but its not a big problem because it happenes so rarely.
my specifics:
CPU: intel core i5-4460.
RAM: 16gb.
GPU: Nvidia gtx 960.

Did you remove that?

To me it sounds power related. As power supplies and machines age you will enounter this. Fix? Varies but often I have to replace the PSU with a nice SINGLE RAIL MODEL that is 50 to 100 Watts more.

I have tried without led strip

As the title states I have tryed removing the strip as it was a suspect of the problem, but as I expected there was no difference on the resoult :/ It seems that I really will need to swap my power supply since it
is old (1 and a half years old). Unless there could be another problem.
So Sorry for the late response

How about a make, model of the PSU then a WEB SPECCY?
Read https://www.piriform.com/docs/speccy/using-speccy/publishing-a-speccy-profile-to-the-web

-> THERE IS ANOTHER CLUE HERE and it's about the move. Moving could cause the old heatsink compound to crack so you could cheaply try all new compound and clean fans and heatsinks as you do the work.

No, I am not calling it heat related yet but using what you tell me to guide what I would do next.

Since this problem occurred after the machine was moved have you reseated all the plugs?
Reseated the ram and video card?

What is this psu?........make and model.
