Computer crashes when playing games

I've recently updated my computer and when i began to play cd based games, my computer crashed. At present these are the software and hardware i have installed:
- windows XP (service pack 2)
- 786MB RAM DDR
- 126MB video card/64 bit (Radeon 9250)
- Gigabyte Motherboard 7N400S-L
- AMD Athlon XP CPU
- DirectX 9

What games?

Is it all games or just one? When you say you recently updated your computer, what do you mean? Did you update the operating system? Memory? If you can provide additional information, someone may be able to help you.
