Question

Computer Crashes when gaming

Apr 5, 2020 10:57AM PDT

I have recently built a new PC with Tomahawk max motherboard, AMD Ryzen
2600x, a Radeon 580 graphics card and a 550W power supply. I decided to try to play call of duty warzone on it and about 5 minutes in my audio cut out and my screen went black however the computer was still on. This problem has also happened when I attempted to play Rainbow Six Siege however I can play League of Legends without any problems. I have no idea what is causing this problem so I would appreciate any support if anyone has any kind of idea.
Thanks,
Luke

I want to hear the BIOS is current, set to the maker's recommendations and more about drivers after you installed Windows.

LoL is known to have a less demanding system on PCs so the usual is BIOS, drivers and some motherboards. I no longer accept boards with prior chipsets than the AMD 450. You shouldn't either.

Everything is up to date

Sorry for the slow reply, the BIOS is current and I have made sure that all my drivers are up to date. This did seem to fix the problem for a while however eventually the same problem occurred. I have done some research and it seems that other people have been experiencing similar problems with similar setups.

You wrote the drivers are up to date but that could be where folk used Windows own update driver button which is still defective.

OR you installed the latest driver yet when you research this you find folk finding that an old version works and the new one has issues. "Up to date" does not mean it's without flaw.

https://www.google.com/search?q=Tomahawk+max+motherboard+crashing+site:www.reddit.com seems to be what you are referring to. I see a lot of folk give up clues to what crashes such as GAME BOOST so when you discover something that doesn't work you don't do that.

The AMD Ryzen builds tend to be hard on folks new to building in regards to BIOS, settings, drivers and apps. I can't cover it all here but will write we want to ask the maker which BIOS, settings and driver versions to use and avoid settings that crash. While I gave GAME BOOST as an example I can't know if this applies this time or it's something else. What clues you have lead you to either a solution or returning the parts you feel are defective.
