In decades of repairing PCs I think we had one real bios crash. This means that a bios failure is too rare to mention here.
If you want a new HDD and want to reload Windows, you need to find what version Windows. For Windows 10, the change to digital entitlement means I can use Microsoft's Media Creation Kit and don't have to supply a key. I skip the question on the key (how is on the internet) and I'm done.
my computer crashed will will not start. from everything i read its the bios or windows problem.
If i replace the hard drive and buy a new copy of windows would the computer be fixed? or is there more involved that i don't understand
