Hello! I'm new to the forums, so I hope I'm posting this to the right place. I'm an "entry level" video editor working on putting together a desktop PC that can handle video editing. I'd really appreciate some advice on the matter.
Ideally, I would like to be able to run Windows from one Hard Drive and Mac OS from another, and I would like to be able to run Final Cut Pro 7, Avid Media composer, After effects, Photoshop, etc, on the appropriate operating systems. Considering this, I have looked into the following specs:
Intel X58 (Micro?)ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i7 920/960 CPU
12GB Ram (1333mhz)
2x 1TB HDs
NVidia GeForce GTX 295
I'm also a casual gamer, and I'd like to be able to game from the Windows HD.
Would anyone say I'm on the right track? Am I making any critical mistakes, or is this a reasonable build for what I'm trying to do? Should I be overclocking? What kind of cooling should I be considering?
