Do you have Google and all or part of its extensions? If it is on a MacBook Pro or even on an IPhone, I have found that Google and its extentions have caused the CPU to run real hot. On the Pro, the usage indicator shows 160% power use.
Found that by deleting or disabling the Google extention programs cut down the energy usage considerably to about 30% max on the Pro.
Since I also have a PC system, I went to Extentions on the Google Settings page and deleted any Google program that I do not use or replicates a program that I already use.
Appears that there are conflicts between the latest Apple operating systems and the latest Google programs which cause heatups and shutdowns. I have e-mailed Apple and Google regarding the issues, but have not heard any reply from either the companies. Appears to be a mutual "my programs are perfect and it is the other parties is at fault and should repair it" situation.
In my case, since Google covers both O/S, i have minimized Google programs on my Macs systems and go through Safari to get to my gmail. What a difference! No more hot Mac Book Pro and IPhone! Additionally, I have minimized the interaction through Google between the Macs and the PCs.
Hope it makes some sense.
