Computer all the sudden having errors and strange problems

by guitardemon / November 15, 2011 12:40 PM PST

My computer is having some strange errors off an on and I cant figure out what is going on. I don't know if some of my hardware is failing, its a virus or what the deal is. When i open folders every once in a while i have a fatal error and windows will have to close out all the windows. Or certain programs I will try to run that worked fine before now wont run and have errors messages come up. I have tried to run. I ran the system error check and when it finished and got to my normal windows screen it said there were 13 error reports that it wanted to send to windows. I tried using system restore and restoring the system back a few days before any of the problems showed up and it didnt help. Anybody have any tips on what I should do from here?

No details of computer make and model, which OS, Windows, (which one?), Mac OS, (which one?), Linux OS, (which one?).

No details of system specifications, Processor, RAM, (memory), hard disk size and how much used space and free space.

No details of anti-virus or anti-malware scans, nor what the full message of the "fatal error" is.

So all in all we're in the dark.

All I can suggest is general advice;

1] Scan with your anti-virus and anti-malware scanners

2] Reduce Start-Up files to a minimum.

3] Make sure Explorer is not attempting to render corrupt video and image files as this can cause Explorer to fail.

4] Check Processes in your Task Manager to see what, if anything, is taking all your CPU Usage.

5] Check the Event Viewer to see if there are any clues what is causing this when it happens.
