Unfortunately, you've not told use the file types or their exact locations.. Just an example, if some of those compressed files are in the System Restore volumes, then they are protected and your AV program could be identifying some of the old viruses as a bad file.. In order to delete such System Restore volumes (System Volume Information directory), temporarily disable SR using the instructions in the link below:

I was helping a friend clean out her computer when I was cleaning the c drive under free up space on your hard drive I ran in to a problem. Every time I tried to dump compressed files a virus warning would show up. It happened twice so I stopped the cleaning. Is there any way to find that file and try and clean it? It does not so up on any virus scan. I was able to do all the cleaning except for the compressed files. She has a Dell and is running windows xp.
Any help would be great.
