I found the cheap way is to buy a DVD recorder bundled with the software I wanted. Later I added what Ulead software I needed.
The new DVD Moviefactory 3 is on my Christmas list...

I'm attempting to produce my first DVD and I'm experimenting with different formats. My first question is will the AVI format recorded to a DVD play on my home DVD player? I have Ulead VideoStudio 5.0. It only has MPEG-1. The best resolution it has is in the AVI format. I also have Ulead DVD Workshop SE that I can record MPEG-2, but it doesn't have the features of VideoStudio 5.0. My other question - is there a do it all program from Ulead or anyone else that I can create DVDs, slideshows, edit my digital pics. At Uleads website it looks as if I would need to purchase several different programs.
