My HD Plasma has two component inputs. One of them is high-def and the other is not. I suppose the standard-def input is for use with a non-progressive scan DVD player or a standard-def Dish receiver. The high-def input works fine for either the Dish 811 or my progressive scan DVD player, but neither work on the standats-def input. I use DVI for the 811 receiver, but can not really tell the difference if I switch to component cables on it. Perhaps you either have two or more sets of component inputs on your set or there is a setup menu to change from standard to high-def on it. You seem to be the only one with the problem, so I would blame the set. Have you called Sony about it?
After wasting tons of money trying to get the bugs out of my d.v.d. player and dish 811 sat system using componit cables I asked you folks and every technission I could talk to and everyone told me componit cables should work fine Well I finally had to switch over to a Denon 2910 with d.v.i. output and a Gifin d.v.i. switcher so now I can toggle between my dish system and d.v.d. player and the picture is stunning. No one has been able to explain to me why componit vidio cables wont worl for me, I do know when I go to frys etc there hi-def sets look ok all using componit vidio inputs WHY WHY? MARRY XMAS TO ALL YOU NICE FOLKS AT CNET.COM AND PLEASE REPLY stewart norrie
