Component vs HDMI

Mar 10, 2015 10:00AM PDT

Just purchased Samsung 65 inch 7100. My cable box, audio receiver and DVD player are all housed in a closet. My old TV was hooked up with 3 color component and 2 audio cables running 15 feet thru my wall. I'd love to have the Samsung connected with HDMI but don't know if it's worth the trouble of trying to route it thru the wall as the initial hookup was done during house construction so it was easy to route then thru the wall at the time. Is the difference in picture quality worth the effort or money to rewire the whole system? Thanks for any opinions.

Your choice.

However Component was "sunset" in 2010 from memory. Here's a link.

Most TVs still have the connection but you may find few BD or other devices that have that as output.

--> Since you didn't replace the old gear, it should just work.

I know it will work. It is connected now. What I was asking was for an opinion if the switch to HDMI would be worth the bother of having to rewire everything.

get the cable you'd run through the wall and try it outside of the wall first. If it works, then you know.

(NT) OPINION? No. I would not change it yet.
