Complete Restore Computer

by pleasehelp / September 30, 2004 12:29 PM PDT

I need to do a complete restore on my computer because it's not operating as well as it should. I have the discs to do it. But my concern is that i recently replace my Phillips CD-RW drive with a AOpen drive (which I never heard of until the shop installed it), will that have any effect on the restore to the manufacturer's setting? I hope i'm making sense. Thanks in advance for your response.

The restore varies with each make machine. For a Compaq, I put the restore CD in the drive and turn the machine on. From there I follow the prompts.

But your post didn't tell what machine you had or if you have restore CDs.

I have a Compaq Presario 5000 Series (ME) and I do have the restore CDs, but my concern is, does the fact that the computer has a different new drive installed(AOpen CD-RW)from the one it came with (Phillips) will hace an effect on the restoring process? thanks

I've done that and it still worked. The only changes that usually trip up the Restore is adding a second hard disk.
