Compatible Processor Upgrade

Feb 24, 2010 1:02PM PST

I have a Dell DIMENSION DIM 3000 with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.8GHz 2.79GHz, 1.25GB of RAM. I am running Windows XP Pro and Microsoft Office Pro.

Often my CPU is at 100%.

My question is.
What is the fastest compatible processor?

Thanks, I read those. I have done all those things, eliminate services, repair reg, malware etc.

What do you mean toggle setting?

It means to actually do the work.

Some will look at the setting and not change it to PIO and back with the prescribed method. It's a cheap fix.

I also want to comment about a recent find. Someone had a WALLPAPER and the strange thing was with it on the WALLPAPER the CPU would run at 100%. Changed it to none and it would drop. The reasons are well known so try that too.
