Question

Compatibility

Does anyone know if a Dell Inspiron N5110 Motherboard can work on a Dell Inspiron N7110. Or can a Dell Inspiron N7110 display work on a Dell Inspiron N5110.

So I have a Dell Inspiron N7110 and the motherboard is damaged, I don't have the need to buy a new laptop but it would be good to have one. I saw someone selling a Dell Inspiron N5110 but it's display is damaged. So I want to buy it and fix my laptop just to have one and also for the fun.

The motherboards rarely fit in another laptop case. As to the LCD, Dell did appear to have some swappability there but it is UNDOCUMENTED so you have to try it.

The broken laptop should be cheap. I won't give much more than 20 or 40 bucks for such and that is only if all the parts are present.

for the cases. So even if they fit another case the port probably don't line up. That's why you don't see people building laptops from scratch.
