Question

Comparison between 2 routers

Aug 30, 2015 9:57AM PDT

Hello,

I have 2 old routers I found in the closet and want to install one of them to my parents.
Which from those two will you recommend:

1. TRENDnet TEW-430APB (Version C1.0R)
2. NETGEAR WGR614v7

Thanks for any input.

Item one is not a router.

So by default item 2 wins as a router.

TRENDnet TEW-430APB Wireless G Access Point

I can't guess why that's on the list. Who offered it and why?

add details about your objective. Tell what your parents already have in the way of hardware and what deficiency exists in their ability to use adequately. If they just have a modem allowing only one device to be connected and want more, you'd need a router. If they have a router without wireless capability, you add a wireless access point. If they have only a modem but have more than one PC and need wireless, you can use the wireless router. So the answer depends on what is already in place and what you want to do that you cannot do now.

add details about your objective. Tell what your parents already have in the way of hardware [one desktop, tablet and cell phones] and what deficiency exists in their ability to use adequately [need plug and play, but I can guide them if needed]. If they just have a modem allowing only one device to be connected and want more, you'd need a router. If they have a router without wireless capability, you add a wireless access point [what do you mean? both the deviced I mentiones are wireless, right?]. If they have only a modem but have more than one PC and need wireless, you can use the wireless router. You lead with which router is best. As there is only one router in the parts mentioned so far, you only have one router to pick from.
