Comparing dSLRs

I have narrowed it down after plenty of research. I have these choices. Nikon D70 or the Nikon D70s. I don't know which is better. Then the Canon Digital Rebel XT because it has 8MP and is the same price. I am still deciding, but slighly favoring the Digital Rebel XT. I still need some help.

I have a price range which needs to be under $1,000 with the lens. The D70 is a bit too expensive
