I recently was in your position, looking for a new computer, and I decided on the Velocity Micro SX-V, a mid-range computer with a good price, custimization, and service. I got mine in the mail and am VERY happy so far. The base price of $809 includes a 3.0ghz Intel Pentium 4 Processor, Integrated Graphics (which will be fine if there is no gaming or 3D-Video editing), a 200gb Hard Drive, and a Dual-Layer DVD Burner. If you feel you don't need that big of a hard drive, you can downgrade it to 120gb (still plenty!) and save $69.
I have been shopping for a new computer for home use. I don't need gaming capabilites, but do a lot of word processing, e-mailing, web browsing/dowloading, etc. I currently have a Dell that is nearly 4 years old. I am looking at several in the $1000-$1300 (with LCD monitor) range, also the Dell 4700 or 8400. The two that I am looking at closely are the Sony VGC-RB30 and HP a820n. Any comments?
