The newer cameras that you are considering have more features that can make taking photos easier or more fun, but realistically, they will not take better photos than your current camera. What is required for that (most especially your desire for better low light action photos) is a larger imaging sensor and a brighter lens. Those things are only available with a compact interchangeable lens camera or DSLR.
I have had a canon s3Is for years and love the camera...BUT..it is time for a new one. I am an assistant coach of a cheerleading squad and LOVE taking pictures of everything. I love the flexability of a point and shoot, and would like to stay in one. My pics dont have to be professional looking, but nice looking. I love the fact that I can take continuous pictures with the S3IS, so during a routine I can just hold down the button and the camera will take 200+ pics and I can choose the best ones. I may only get 5-10 good ones but i get good action shots. I know that I can get better ones with a newer camera because of better technology, but I don't know which one is better. So in short...
*fast shutter
*good in low light (outside at night, under bright lights of the football field, inside a gym under wierd flourescent lights)
*i like the bigger camera body (easier to hold steady)
so which one would you recommend?
thank you.
