You may be doing yourself a big favor by skipping 3D.

I am thinking about jumping several generations of home theater from analog to either 3d or hd without breaking the bank. But I want to be practical about the jump, I don't want to sit around the house all day wearing 3d glasses, but I wouldn't mind wearing while watching movies or such.
