General discussion

Compaq R3000 series owners

Just an information post. Weve been getting a ton of the R3000 series and twin HP's with the Mobile P-4 and 17" widescreens. The DC connectors break internally in these systems and require rebuilding/rerouting of the supply circuit. I dont feel this is a very good design and they have a stamped out Positive rear pin that heats up and opens or breaks off just inside the connector. Be careful with your Adapter cord and if you are having a problem feel free to contact us. Failure seems to happen just after warranty and we have a fix that shoud not show return problems.

We have a pair of R3000s with the AMD 64.

We see that it could be an issue if someone were to bump the power connector. I can imagine it will break if hit.

Don't do that?

Bob

PS. These have been real sweet machines for us.

Agreed on the system being nice

Bob You are 100% correct as to them being a nice unit.. Very well built also with regards to the Massive radiator system and Other upgrades as far as the systems as a whole. Only issue weve been noticing is the DC jacks and supply circuits and of course when theyre out of warranty HP will reccomend board replace @ 600.00 Per unit.. I've on several occasions asked the customers how the machine was treated? IE: Plugged/unplugged, Toted around and a couple.. Doctor and Lawyer purchased for desktop replacements and swear they were never moved. I will send you guys a Jack that has failed if you'd like to see what the issue is. It seems to becoming a bigger problem everyday and I like people to know theres always another option outside of warranty. Thanx again for all of your help also and we can help you as well. (You guys should have some techies there someplace)? Ken
