Question

Compaq laptop has online audio problem

Jul 4, 2012 6:17PM PDT

My Compaq RS4000 laptop with Windows XP Pro has developed a problem with streaming playback of online audio. It has a ringing echo that is very annoying.

It plays downloaded, stored and network audio files with no issues. I tried to do a restore but the earliest dates available apparently are after it happened and don't fix it.

Is it all online audio
Jul 4, 2012 7:28PM PDT

or just selected web sites or online radio stations?

What player is being used for this online audio, Flash, WMP, or some other? Example, I'm listening to an online radio station and playback is using the Flash plugin.

Have you tried a different browser?

Mark

Compaq laptop audio streamng problem
Jul 5, 2012 12:21AM PDT

I tried Google Chrome and streaming music plays fine. I was using whatever default player the sites use and I'll try updating my Flash plugin and/or IE browser to see if it cleans up on IE. Thank you.

Compaq laptop streaming audio problem

I updated my IE browser and it cleaned up the problem. I don't know why I didn't just do it in the first place and it's basic stuff like checking to see if an appliance is plugged in when it doesn't turn on. Thanks for the help though.

That's great

and thanks for letting us know.

Why didn't you do that in the first place? Why should you? It was working, suddenly it stops working and you have changed nothing. Why would it need an upgrade to start working again? It isn't intuitive.
