Of the 2....

I'd go with the second one for the following reasons:

1) More RAM: 1 GB vs 512 MB.

2) Better XP: Media Center should be better than Home I'd think for video editing.

3) Bigger Hard Drive: 250 GB vs 160 GB.

4) System Bus: 2 GHz vs 1.6 GHz.

Some people like Compaq and I have a friend with a Compaq that she likes. I'm happy with HP though I imagine there are a few horror stories out there.

Just my thoughts,
JB

Im looking for a system i can upgrade if it has 512 memory and can be upgraded to 1 or 4 gigs fine, same with HD as long as i can add a slave drive or secondary drive thats fine i do everything with my p3 1 gigahertz 512 machine now just want something faster and upgradable and im on a fixed budget with best buy gift cards helping lol

ive heard horror stories on compaq but few good stories i need help deciding consumer reports was no help to me

media center is fine as long as the interface can be changed like win xp home ive seen some that have tv icon movies icon and some with windows xp interface showing desktop and u go from there

I'm not sure if you can upgrade a system bus without getting a new Motherboard. Additionally, while you can upgrade RAM it may be that you can't re-use the initial RAM in the system, e.g. the 4GB is likely 4 sticks with 1 GB each which doesn't use any 512 MB sticks. How much these matter is another story.

Lastly, if the budget is the big factor then go for the first one though realize some limitations you would be locking youself into with that system.

Regards,
JB

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
