Compact Flash deteriorates?

Nov 11, 2011 1:59PM PST
Can/does a compact flash deteriorate over time? I use one in my Nikon D200 and notice that some of the pictures do not look as crisp as they should or used too. Discounting not using flash when its necessary, I notice some pictures, especially of people, have a splotchy look to them. I also need to have the camera cleaned. I could just buy another compact flash, but money's tight, so anyone have ideas on this issue?

It can fail over time but

You would get a write error and not what you are noticing. The crispness would be to dirty lens, sensor, etc. Look at the lens. How does it look?

I am not sure what you are asking.

Compact Flash - memory card
Compact Flash - an internal flash module
Compact Flash - an external flash unit

Please clarify
