Compact Flash Card Type 2 is not about speed, it is about size.

It is thicker and therefore it will not fit in most cameras.

CompactFlash cards and slots that are 3.3 mm thick are called CompactFlash (abbreviated as CF) or CompactFlash Type I (abbreviated as CF-I).

CompactFlash cards and slots that are 5mm thick are called CompactFlash Type II (abbreviated as CF-II). IBM Microdrives are perhaps the best known Type II cards.
