Canon SD500
"Not impressed with image quality reports"
You should take a look at some sample photos yourself.
The SD500 produces excellent quality photos.

To better the optics of the SD500, you can look at the Canon S60 or S70.
Looking at sample photos, the S60/70 cameras are a bit better than the SD500.

The Olympus C-2020z that I've been using for the past 5 years takes great images. But it's low-res by today's standards, bad shutter lag and bulky. Have been looking at the Cannon SD500, but am not impressed with image quality reports. Can you recommend a compromise? Here's my requirements:
- 5 megapixels+
- low shutter lag
- low profile (doesn't have to by ultra slim, but needs to fit easily in a pocket i.e. retracting lens)
- 3x zoom min
- good low-light (or flash)
I don't need manual (have the D10 for that
... but I won't be happy if the image quality isn't there.
Thanks!
