The Canon SD500 and the Sony P200/W7 have low shutter lag.
None of the ultra small cameras, have a full set of manual controls.
The Sonys do have a manual setting, but it is limited.
For a more advanced smallish camera with a 5X zoom, check out the Olympus C-7000.

The long lens cameras offer lots of features and all have manual controls. The Panasonic is a good choice.

I am looking for a compact camera with good photo quality, 2" or above LCD, 4 megapixels or above, and low shutter lag. Manual features would be great, but are not essential. I have been considering the SD500 or Sony's P200 or W7. Does anyone have any thoughts on which they prefer and why?
I am also considering the Panasonic FZ5 because I think a large optical zoom would be useful as most of my pictures will be of kids and on vacation. However, I think it is rather big for a portable, family camera.
