comp shuts down on games,disk cleanup!!

my PC configuration is P-IV,3 Ghz,512MB RAM.i use WinXP-SP3

since a few weeks whenever any program involving higher memory requirements(higher number of computations) from the system is initiated,my PC just shuts down.these programs include:

-disk cleanup
-games(except for the windows' built-in ones)
-picasa
-google earth
-websites using flash scripts like metacafe
-video conversion softwares

i've reformatted my computer completely but still am facing this problem.

please lemme know what's the solution to this thing!!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
