I had to re-install the COMODO firewall and then use its own un-install process. That removed the acting COMODO firewall and then able to enable the OS firewall. The other added features/add-ons can be also un-installed using the add/remove from the control panel. However, the previous unfinished problemI posted about still had the no connection to the WWW. I had to totally un-install the wifi link and then remove all reference of it and reboot. Once done, do a re-install of wifi access and re-enter the key and finally connect. This whole process took about 6-7hrs. on/off time to resolve until it all settled. It appears to glitch some too but it does finalize during the boot-up cycle, which it hadn't done before but for now its resolved. -----Willy ![]()
The COMODO firewall was great until they decided to update the free version to have other features. In the older version, it had Dragon and GeekBuddy as part of the install. You can remove those two and leave only the firewall active which then does a great job. I have used it on many PCs, but not now, at least the newest freebie version. WHY!, because it hosed an XP system which can no longer connect to the WWW. It can to the network not on to the WWW. Under XP, the fix is still eluding me. I wanted to remove COMODO firewall because in a Dell mini with 1gb ram, it was becoming too slow and unresponsive as that ram did alot of tasks. I used REVO uninstaller and during the un-install after closing the firewall prior, it hung-up stating that under Comodo own un-installer process, REVO needed to be stopped. I ignored and the PC froze solid, it never did that before. Once, all was un-installed after a reboot using the REVO again, it would not connect to the WWW. No matter what was done, it couldn't proceed other than connect to the LAN. So far, no fix as i troubleshoot all around it for now it seems. I may have to reload the OS, I hope this isn't some ZPA or Hbleed that got through once the firewall was down until I enacted OS firewall.
For now, I won't update any other COMODO firewalls as a precaution. The freebie is becoming bloated too, it now includes the PrivDog add-on, gee what i need another add-on.
Any ideas? -----Willy ![]()
