Common for a carrier NOT to have a major network in HD?

by Vance14 / April 14, 2008 2:34 AM PDT

Just wondering, being new to the HD world: is it common for a cable company (TW in my case) not to have a major network (CBS, in this case) in HD? Seems odd, given the channels that *are* in HD.

Very annoying not to have March Madness, and now the Masters, in HD, and considering football season coming up is a bit depressing . . .

I have Comcast here in New Mexico and they do not offer CBS-HD, but Comcast in Colorado where I used to live DOES offer CBS-HD. I asked about it and the local CBS affiliate and Comcast can't reach contractual terms in offering HD on Comcast. For NFL and other CBS shows I have to use my OTA antenna.

I work for time warner in Ohio and lived in cincy where they have all local channels in hd then moved to Dayton where NBC is not broadcasted in hd... It has to do with area rights and the local broadcasters... Sucks but more than likely if you dont have it you aint ever gonna get it... Only choice is pick it up over the air but thats changing next year too
