Restart the computer into Safe Mode using the instructions in the link below:
How To Start In 'Safe Mode'
Once you've started the computer into Safe Mode, then follow the instructions you posted previously while in Safe Mode. It should allow you to delete the files in question.

This problem happens when LiveUpdate files are missing or damaged. To solve this problem, remove and replace damaged LiveUpdate files. For instructions to remove and replace damaged LiveUpdate files, read the document How to remove and replace damaged LiveUpdate files
2. Click the Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate folder.
3. Press the Delete key, then click Yes to confirm the folder deletion.
4. Close all windows
But when I hit delete it will not let me delete see fig below
This is what it says??.. cannot delete 2006-01_30_log. Alu scheduler svc. Live update. It is being used by another person or program close any programs that might be using the file and try again
each time no luck please help
