Question

Comments not enabled in the mobile app

I cannot make or read any comments in the mobile CNET app. The comments tab does not show at the top of the articles as it did in the past. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Using an iphone 6s plus up to date opersting system and supposedly latest version of CNET app.

A few months ago when we switched to a new commenting platform, we unfortunately discovered that the platform was not compatible with our app. So currently the commenting feature is temporarily unavailable on both iOS and Android CNET mobile app.

The good news is we are in the process of getting comments back into our app but it will require development time to make the new commenting platform play nicely with our app. It's not going to be a simple project, but we are working on it. I do apologize for the inconvenience. We definitely will get that feature back into the app and your patience is appreciated.

FWIW commenting is available on mobile web, just not in our app.

Again I'm sorry for the inconvenience!

ETA for new commenting features

In reply to: Update?1?

Yup - so in the iOS app we do have all comments available to read! (not yet in Android). Both read functionality for Android, and write functionality for both platforms are likely to come early next year, although it is possible we'll get read for Android by EOY.

As memory serves, you're an Android user - we just released a new app, which will soon replace the old one. They are separate apps right now, as there's still some features we need to add to the new one, but ultimately the old one will be deprecated.
