I've created a script that can automate a lot of
the tedious and redundant processes managing files
I receive from a client a few times a week. To
complete my script, I need a command style app
that can do two things:
1 - Get the creation date of a file specified
in the script, and add that date to the folder
containing the file. If a directory is named
"John's Updates" I want the directory renamed
"John's Updates_mm/dd/yy."
2 - Scan a group of folders with the same name
but different dates and delete the oldest in
the bunch. Again, if there are a group of folders
named "John's Updates" that all have different
dates, I want the oldest one dumped into the
Recycle Bin.
I've searched long lists of "file manager" apps.
Maybe I should have been searching for a macro
or scripting app that can perform these two
actions. All I know is my brain is beginning
to fog up! I just can't spend anymore time
searching.
A small command applet with no console or window
would be perfect. Even some advice on finding
this type of app would be greatly appreciated.
