Comcast HD cable box

Mar 30, 2006 1:06PM PST

This is going to sound like a really dumb question and i think should know the answer but i just wanted other opinions. I just got a new Comcast HD cable box and the guy hooked it up to my Samsung Hlr5067w with just your standard cable jack plugged into the cable jack on the tv. The box has a DVI and component jacks (no HDMI). I now get picture on the HD channels and they look HD but i just wanted to make sure that i really am getting HD through the Coax jack and not just a better looking picture. Will it make a difference if i plug in the component or DVI (through an HDMI converter) into the tv?

You have a good tv, but you aren't getting HD

Cable/Satellite installers are often too dumb or lazy to do the job correctly, even component cables will make a tremendous difference and you will get a true HD picture. D

If your box has d.v.i. output and your t.v. has h.d.m.i. then buy the d.v.i. to h.d.m.i. cable and you will be an Imax theater, also your box will have optical audio output for your million dollor 5.1. system and dont forget the snack bay have a nice nite stewart

SWITCH TO A HDMI COMACST BOX

comcast has several different version of cable boxes. if you want to go digital, you might as well get the right box instead of a converter. besides, dvi can only carry video signals, no audio. also, depending on your local comcast office, you'll probably have to supply your own digital cable.
