Comcast/Firewall question

Nov 10, 2005 5:35AM PST

I am getting Comcast Internet.
My sister has Comcast. She had problems with the Security software from McAfee as it locked up her internet. Her Tech added new software andadvised her not to use any firewalls or Security devices.
That doesn't sound right. What Firewall works best with Comcast? I have McAfee anti-virus - should I keep that and get a different firewall? No Firewall?
Any recommendations on how I should proceed. (I have Win98SE)

I have comcast. I use Zone Alarm Pro for the firewall although their free version works well. I use McAfee's subscription service with no problems. Your "tech" should have stuck to running cable and not advising on computers. Google AVG. It's a good anti-virus. Also, get some of the free anti-spyware,adware and registry cleaner. A search on these forums will get you plenty. And remember, Win98se will no longer be supported after the end of the year. Let us know how it works out.

and life goes on...
