Comcast Custom DVR 3 Remote, LN46A850 and BDP2500

Jan 3, 2009 10:27AM PST

I have a new LN46A850 and BDP2500. I have Comcast cable with what I believe is a Motorola DCH3415 HD DVR , which doubles as the HD cable decoder. I have the Comcast remote operating the TV fine, but I cannot find a code that will make it operate the Blu Ray player. Does anyone know one? The alternative would be to make the TV remote control the cable box/DVR. Trouble is I cannot find a code for the TV remote that works the cable box. I have been through the codes listed and then stepped individually through each code that is noted to be a possibility. Anyone know a code I can use? For either remote?
Or do I have to buy a Logitech? Will that actually work? The Harmony One Remote looks like a good deal on Amazon.

Thanks!

(comcast rep here on forums for own enjoyment nor representing comcast)

Howdy, i suspect the blueray players might not work but if you reply with the manufactuer names and the color of the ok/select button I can look the codes up and let you try. (or since i assume you were using the manual earlyer you should have the correct codes there for the same manufacturer's dvd player)

It might work because they might not change the codes needed from what there DVD players use. If they have then it wont work but we wont know till then.

take care and i hope it helped

The manufacturer of the Blu Ray player is Samsung (surprisingly enough).

Comcast Remote...

The Samsung remote control probably will not work with the cable box or the Blu-Ray player.

What happens is that there are discrete codes that are programmed into the remote controls. Those codes are preprogrammed into banks, and the "code numbers" are banks of these codes that control the devices.

I do know that the BDP2500 is a relatively new unit on the market, and does not use the old codes from our prior models of DVD players. You could use the Comcast remote to control both the TV and the cable box, but I believe you'll have to use the BluRay player with either Anynet (controlling the Blu-Ray player through the TV interface), or seperately with the Blu-Ray's remote.

The benefit of Anynet+ is that you can control other devices through the menu in the television set; thus, the one Comcast remote, you'd control the box, the television, and the Blu-Ray player through the television.

I've seen good reviews on the Logitech remote too, but see if the Anynet+ features work to your satisfaction.

Anynet

Anynet is really slow, it takes about 25 seconds to connect to the Blu Ray player and then it has to start it up, that is another 25 seconds or so.

samsung blue-ray home theater system
Mar 19, 2009 1:03PM PDT

I just bought a samsung blue-ray home theater system HT-BD2E and can't find a code for my comcast custom dvr 3 device remote. Has anyone found any codes for this? Really all I want to be able to do is control the sound (which is through the dvd player) on the comcast remote.
